Primary partnership

The Primary Partnership currently works with approximately 500 educational settings - across the early years, foundation stage, Key Stage 1 and 2.

The Primary partnership logo - The logo is the words "primary partnership" written on a blue and white background

 We value the expertise and opportunity offered by our diverse partners and celebrate the consistently high-quality experience that all learners are offered. These long-established relationships have built links for teaching placements and future employment.

This Partnership services the initial teacher education requirements of our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes to offer Qualified Teacher Status for a specific age range (3-7 or 5-11). In addition, the Partnership serves as continuing professional development, utilising accredited learning through the University’s Postgraduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma and Masters programmes.

The Partnership offers flexible routes into teaching, including a part time postgraduate pathway and part time Level 6 top up course for undergraduate students. We work together to develop teachers with expertise on specialist pathways at postgraduate level in both SENDI and PE.

We benefit from the diversity of school-experience that we can offer trainee and experienced teachers – from small, rural schools in the Worcestershire and Herefordshire countryside to large, urban schools in Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall, Birmingham, and Worcester city alongside established partnerships in South West England.

Headteacher and Senior Leader Information

A close, mutually supportive partnership with the ³ÉÈËBÕ¾ brings many benefits for both individual professionals and partner institutions.

Many of our exceptional trainees return to the university or go on to find employment at our partnership schools. These trainees are employed as lead mentors, subject and middle leaders, and senior leaders and Headteachers. The diverse range of opportunities available allows our student to make a distinct contribution to their educational settings.

The University offers a range of partnership opportunities for Head teachers and Senior leaders which include;

  • Becoming a member of the Partnership Steering Committee
  • Attending the ITT Student: Staff Liaison Committee meetings
  • Supporting the interview process for future trainees
  • Delivering training and consultancy alongside university colleagues
  • Delivering sessions as visiting lecturers and assisting with professional development days
  • Research possibilities

Colleagues at the University always welcome any contact from Head teachers or Senior Leaders who might like to explore ideas further.

“We welcome students from across many courses at Worcester – they bring commitment and fresh ideas to our school.”

– Julie Rees, Headteacher at Ledbury Primary School
