The ³ÉÈËBÕ¾ has been awarded fully funded places for people who want to become Early Years professionals.

The University is launching a brand-new Early Years Initial Teacher Training course, with options for entry for people already working in early years settings with children from birth to 5 and people looking to enter the profession.

The Graduate Employment Based Route onto the course is for applicants who already have a degree in any subject and are working in early years settings.

It’s a one-year part-time programme, and as well as being fully funded for the trainee, there’s a £7,000 incentive for their employer.

The second route onto the course is the Graduate Entry Route, a one-year full-time programme aimed at people who have a degree and wish to enter the profession.

Training fees are fully covered, and this option could be accompanied by a bursary of up to £5,000 for the trainee.

Lorna Williams, Principal Lecturer in Primary Education, said: “At a time when the sector is crying out for well trained and passionate early years professionals, we’re delighted to receive the news that we’ve secured so many fully funded places to deliver this training.”

She continued: “Once they complete their studies, our graduates will be recommended for the award of Early Years Teacher Status, which is different from Qualified Teacher Status, as it relates directly to the work they will do in early years settings.”

She added: “For degree holders who wish to work with young children, or who are already working in a qualifying setting, these courses can offer the training and development needed.”
