Lucy qualified as a midwife in 2002 and worked clinically in a variety of settings before moving into a research role. She joined the University of Birmingham as a research midwife in 2009 and worked on a number of research studies focused on improving maternal and infant health. The focus of one of these studies was peer support for breastfeeding which formed the basis for her PhD which was awarded in 2014. Lucy worked as a research midwife for the NIHR reproduction and childbirth specialty group before moving into a senior lecturer role at the 成人B站 in 2015.

Research interests

Lucy’s research interests include peer support for breastfeeding, perinatal mental health, and postnatal care. More broadly, Lucy is keen to add to the evidence base to provide high quality and safe care to women accessing maternity services.
