Emma is passionate about all things scientific but has particular expertise in virology and immunology. Her current main area of research is into CRGV, a rare but fatal disease affecting dogs in the UK. She has spoken at many public events about viruses and their impact and co-authored a book about the 1918 Spanish flu pandemic.

Research

Recent work involves the canine disease CRGV, also known as Alabama Rot.  She is also involved in PhD supervision for a project looking for markers of cardiovascular disease.  Previous work includes examining the role of the hedgehog signalling pathway in cancer development, and development of diagnostic assays for crop disease.
