Joe is a senior lecturer and module leader in Advanced Clinical Practice and a member of the Midwifery and CPD team. He has extensive experience working within the health and social care sector, including, Forensic Mental Health and Learning Disabilities, in a variety of both private and public sector environments. He has worked with both children and adults with wide ranging needs. Joe’s nursing career spans just over ten years with key responsibilities being centred on his role as a key nurse and senior staff nurse/charge nurse, assessing, planning and implementing care for children and young adults with complex backgrounds and associated issues and behaviours. He has specialised in acute mental illness and associated learning disabilities working on both low and medium secure units.

Teaching Interests
For the last ten years Joe has taught as a member of a team in a variety of settings across a number of programmes these include; BSc Nursing, Nursing Associate Higher Apprenticeship and Foundation Degree, BSc Health and Social Care, BA Childhood Studies, CACHE level 5 Higher Apprenticeship in Care Leadership and Management and Assistant Practitioners as well as CACHE Level 3 Health and Social Care. Joe is currently responsible for the delivery of Research Methods and Complex decision-making modules.
Research Interests
Joe is currently working toward a PhD in Global Education with a particular focus on leadership and diversity in Higher Education. In his academic approach Joe will be utilising a qualitative methodology from an ontological standpoint of constructivism and an epistemological framework of interpretivism.
