Karen completed her DipHe in Adult nursing in Worcester in 2006. Following this she worked as a staff nurse within the NHS on an acute medical ward specialising in providing nursing care for those with infectious disease and acute stroke rehabilitation. Karen then accepted a role working as a community nurse within the district nursing team covering Worcester, during this time took a secondment opportunity with the intravenous therapy team covering Worcestershire and later working within the community hospital specialising in rehabilitation and palliative nursing care.
Over the following 12 years Karen worked within the Acute, Community and Commissioning Services sectors across Worcestershire providing specialist Infection prevention and control advice and support, where she developed her passion for teaching, education and supporting others. She completed the mentorship for assessment in practice and also gained a BSc degree in Dimensions in Health care – Infection Control in 2017 at Birmingham City University. In 2021 Karen accepted a position working for a Government Council in Greater Manchester where she worked as a health protection nurse within the Public Health Team, during this time she completed a Health Protection Module at Liverpool University which she completed in 2023.
In 2024 Karen accepted a position of Lecturer in Nursing within The School of Nursing and Midwifery. Karen is passionate that nurses are equipped to provide safe, quality and compassionate care to all. Additionally, Karen’s interests focus on health promotion and health protection.
