Lisa is an experienced educator, teaching across both undergraduate and postgraduate courses. With over 25 years of experience in the health and social care sector, she has worked across public, private, voluntary, and local government organisations developing new services and managing existing services. Her career includes expertise in project management, leadership, and team management. Most recently, Lisa as Local Government Principal Officer managed a team of quality assurance officers and managed a portfolio of care provider contracts, working with care providers and partner organisations (including public health, NHS, regulatory bodies, police and fire services) to improve service quality, deal with safeguarding issues and ensuring compliance with contractual, policy, regulatory and legislative requirements, while implementing provider sanctions when necessary. Lisa also has international project experience with the Earthwatch Institute participating in an expedition to West Africa to map the flora and fauna in the upper west region whilst interviewing the local community regarding their medicinal uses of plants.

Lisa undertook primary research for her undergraduate and Masters Degrees, to explore quality in care homes and the process of choosing a care home. Lisa conducted research to measure service user views of a changing local authority service and to measure the impact of services on hard to reach children (young carers and Gypsy, Roma, Traveller groups). In addition to local research, Lisa participated in a research expedition to the upper west region of Ghana, to help map the flora and fauna in an area of ecological interest and to explore local uses of plants for medicinal purposes.
