Mike has held several senior leadership positions across both public and private sector organisations in the fields of banking, finance, construction, FM, surveying and local government. He has also held the CEO position in hybrid organisations with a mix of private and public sector ethos and values, which has formed part of his research interest and studies. Mike has also been involved in a large number of projects and programmes which have included M&A’s, restructures, business re-engineering, business development, organisational design, process re-engineering and coaching frameworks. He has also held a number of positions in HR including operational, strategic and leadership roles both in private and public sector.

His PhD was awarded for the thesis entitled 'The Paradox of Institutional Behavioural Additionality and Behavioural Negativity in Hybrid Organisations'. He has particular research interests in creativity, innovation and success of hybrid organisations and the blend of private and public sector values and ethos. This is extended to strategic HRM and Leadership within such organisations.

He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel, being a member for 20 years, and is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management, Institute of Leadership and Management, Higher Education Academy and is a Registered Corporate Coach and a Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma.
