After helping out at the ³ÉÈËBÕ¾’s graduation ceremonies in previous years, while working as a student ambassador, this year it’s the turn of Christian Hudson to put on his cap and gown.

Christian will graduate alongside his fellow students at the University’s autumn Graduation Celebrations in September, with a degree in Illustration, and is now embarking on an exciting new role within the University sharing his student experiences with others.

During his time at university, 21-year-old Christian got involved in a range of activities, taking every opportunity he could.

“I helped the Illustration department to run workshops at the Hay Festival for three different age groups of children,” he said. “It was really lovely to see all the brilliant, imaginative ideas they had and how enthusiastic they all were. We had them making sea creature masks, foam printing monsters and collaging underwater scenes before all working together on a big scene.

“I also worked as a Student Ambassador from the end of my first year, helping with the graduation ceremonies and Open Days.”

Christian, from Bromsgrove, said he had been keen to find an art-related course with a focus on storytelling, characters and environments, when he came across the ³ÉÈËBÕ¾’s Illustration degree.

“When I looked into the course at Worcester and around the Art House, I loved the close-knit, supportive environment,” he said. “I could see myself really enjoying the course and have loved this community aspect throughout my time at Worcester.”

He added: “One of my happiest memories from the course is when we visited the beautiful Hellens Manor, exploring the grounds together in the lovely sun and being encouraged to make work in response. But, equally, some of my best memories are just from coming into the studio every day and working alongside my friends in our individual work areas – it became my home away from home and I’m really going to miss that welcoming studio environment.

“I can’t believe that three years have gone by already, it’s gone so fast! I’m really going to miss the course and all of my classmates but it’s also a really exciting time to see what’s in store next too.”

The University’s annual autumn Graduation Ceremonies will take place as planned from September 12-14 in the beautiful and historic Worcester Cathedral followed by celebration receptions at the City Campus. No Worcester graduates have been affected by the marking and assessment boycott
